This and all future recording's are dedicted to Brian Walker, love and miss you!
This CD brings together a unique group of talented musicians, demonstrating exquisite original tunes, swinging and upbeat. The ballads and vocal renditions you will love and most definitely leave you asking for more. This is jazz at its best with musicians that gel together creating unforgettable moments.
Kermit Walker, (Drums and Vocals) the leader of this star-studded ensemble has played with some the best in the business. From Ray Brown, Cedar Walton, Roy Hargrove, Richie Cole to Milt Jackson. His abilities speak for itself due to the numerous heavyweights he has backed up. Not only does Kermit perform swinginly on the snares, but his vocal renditions will surprise you. His singing has underlying tones of Nat King Cole and Johnny Hartman, showing totally relaxed emotions, and very soothing, as demonstrated beautifully in his original "There's Something."
Amanda Sedgwick (Alto Saxophone) has a demanding sound, remnants of the 1930's - 40's setting, but yet so-o-o-o modern. Sedgwick is from Stockholm, Sweden. She is a composer and arranger and has an extensive background. She has played with Walter Booker, Bernt Rosengren and many others.
Philip Harper (Trumpet) has performed worldwide with greats such as "Sweets" Edison, Jimmy McGriff, and many others. He has numerous recordings with Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers.
Johnny O'Neal (Piano) probably, one of the greatest jazz pianist of this year, has been linked with other giants such as Clark Terry, the Art Blakey and Sarah Vaughn just to name a few. O'Neal's masterly control of the ivories is profoundly invigorating and understated.
Craig Shaw (Bass) is an individual to reckon with; he's caring on the tradition of Jimmy Blanton, who initiated the solo methodology on bass. His buoyancy illuminates the group on every tune creating an environment of tirelessly inventiveness with subdued sensitivity on ballads and swing when needed.
